Republic Township Planning Commission
Regular Monthly Meeting
Monday, July 16, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Leslie Hurst at 7:05 p.m..
Members present: Vickie Radcliffe, Jay Mattila, Glenn Adams, Marcy Rankinen, Leslie Hurst and Zoning Administrator Bill Payne.
Members absent: Diane Tapio, Peggy Lahtela.
Visitors: Fred Nannestad
Marcy Rankinen was appointed secretary pro-tem in the absence of Lahtela.
The minutes of the Regular Monthly meeting of June 18, 2007, were approved on a motion by Glenn Adams; supported by Jay Mattila; unanimously carried.
Marcy Rankinen made a motion to approve the agenda; supported by Glenn Adams, unanimously carried.
There was no public comment.
Permit Reviews:
Jeff Couveau Land Division -- After reviewing and discussion, a motion was made by Glenn Adams; supported by Jay Mattila and unanimously carried, that the Couveau land division SE1/4 of the NE1/4 of Section 26, T45N-R30W, Republic Township, Marquette County, Michigan, be granted (materials attached).
Steven Luoma Land Division – After reviewing and discussion, a motion was made by Glenn Adams, supported by Vickie Radcliffe and unanimously carried, that there was a need for more specific information on the application , specifically Item 1, 3H, etc.
Reports:
(a) Zoning Administrator – Report attached.
(b) Parks & Recreation – no report.
(c) EDC – no report.
(d) Heritage Trail – GPS coordinates and mapping being done.
(e) Zoning Ordinance Sub-committee – have met .
(f) Ordinance subcommittee – to be reconvened in August.
(g) Community meetings/plan – meet again in September.
(h) Campground guidelines – Adams reported Twp. board has acted on guidelines.
(i) Website updates – Nannestad reported on website activity and that he has made revisions to the template process of the website.

New Business:
After considerable discussion, a motion was made by Vickie Radcliffe, supported by Glenn Adams, that the Planning Commission pursue the development of a Master Plan, make the subsequent changes to the Zoning Ordiance, and be provided the resources needed to accomplish said project; motion carried unanimously. It was the consenus of the group that individuals already involved, namely Jim Fegan, Jon Mykkanen, Duane Oja continue to serve with the Planning Commission on this project.
There was no public comment.
Next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2007, at 7:00 p.m..
A motion was made by Marcy Rankinen, supported by Vickie Radcliffe to adjourn; meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m..
