The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Leslie Hurst at 7:05 PM.
Members present: Vickie Radcliffe, Macy Rankinen, Glenn Adams, Diane Tapio, Leslie Hurst, Bill Payne-Zoning Administrator.
Members absent: Jay Mattila, Peggy Lahtela.
Others in attendance: Tom Sandblom.
Marcy Rankinen was appointed Secretary pro-tem in the absence of Peggy Lahtela.
It was moved by Diane Tapio, supported by Glenn Adams thet the minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 19, 2007 be approved; motion carried unanimously.
The agenda was approved on the motion of Marcy Rankinen, supported by Vickie Radcliffe; motion carried.
Public comment: Tom Sandblom stated he would like to offer comments on agenda items as addressed.
There were no reviews, land division requests, etc.
Reports:
Zoning Administrator - no requests or reviews (report on file at Township Office).
Parks & Recreation - Diane Tapio reported on the Family Fun Day held at the motorcross/golf range by the school on Saturday, March 3rd.
EDC - No update at this time.
Heritage Trail - Chuck Hurst to be the Republic Twp. Representative on the Regional Recreation Authority; Glenn Adams addressed a concern Humboldt Twp. Had with the designated type of use of the trail.
Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee - resume in April.
Ordinance Subcommittee - no update at this time.
Township Strategic Plan - next community meeting to be on Wednesday, April 11th.
Campground Subcommittee - It was moved by Vickie Radcliffe, supported by Diane Tapio that the Planning Commission recommend to the township that this committee establish guidelines and a fees structure for the camping area at Munson Park for township board approval in the interim period prior to any pending further development of said area; motion carried unanimously.
Website Update - no report.
Old Business:
Five-year Recreation Plan review - Update revised plan checked over by planning commission.
Resolution for Adoption of 2007-2011 Recreation Plan - It was moved by Diane Tapio, supported by Marcy Rankinen that the Resolution for the Republic Township Recreation Plan be adopted: Five (5) Ayes; No - Nays. (Resolution on file at Township Office).
New Business:
Town Square Design - (drawings on file at Township Office).
Grant letter of support - Planning commission menbers to distribute and request letters of support for the town square grant (samples on file at Township Office).
Public Comment - None.
Next meeting April 16, 2007, 7:00 PM., Republic Township Hall.
It was moved by Glen Adams, supported by Leslie Hurst to adjourn; carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
