Republic Township Planning Commission Meeting-----November 19, 2007 draft
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Diane Tapio in the absence of Chairperson Leslie Hurst. Meeting was halted to briefly attend the Township Board Meeting which was held simultaneously with ours to discuss the sledding hill. Supervisor Gary Johnson informed us that the work would not be done until next summer as the person hired to do the job became unavailable to us due to a job change. Our meeting reconvened at 7:45 p.m.

Bill Payne, Zoning Administrator, Diane Tapio, Vickie Radcliffe, and Peggy Lahtela
Members Absent
Leslie Hurst, Marcy Rankinen, Jay Mattila, and Glenn Adams our Board representative who was attending the Township Board Meeting.
Approval of the 10/15/07 meeting minutes was made by Vickie Radcliffe with support from Diane Tapio. Motion carried.
Approval of the agenda was made by Peggy Lahtela with support from Vickie Radcliffe. Motion carried.
Reports
1. Zoning Administrator-One application for zoning compliance permit by Dave and Jennifer Block to
build a deck and porch
2. Parks and Recreation-The Christmas decorations will be put up on 11/23/07.
3. EDC-No action
4. Heritage Trail-No report
5. Master Plan/ Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee-Subcommittee met with DEQ on 11/7/07, propose
next meeting for 12/12/07 at 7:00 p.m.
6. Ordinance Subcommittee-Met on 11/12/07 and reviewed most of the ordinance book. Leslie is
updating index and preparing subcommittee recommendation for Dec. Planning Commission
and Board meetings. (Include abolishing, updating, combining).
7. Community Meetings/ Plan-Nothing scheduled
8. Campground Subcommittee-Working on a fee schedule for next spring
9. Website Update-Fred is on winter leave, use email to contact
Old Business
Leslie Hurst, Gary Johnson,Chuck Hurst and UPEA planner Bill Sanders met on Wednesday 10/24/07 to review recreation plan projects to prioritize and breakdown for seeking grants. All past plans and additional information were mailed to Bill later that week. Bill and Leslie are developing a draft time line for grant applications to review at December Planning Commission Meeting.
