Republic Township Planning Commission Meeting--
October 15, 2007
Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Leslie Hurst at 7:00p.m.
Members Present
Glenn Adams, Jay Mattila, Marcy Rankinen, Diane Tapio, Vickie Radcliffe, Zoning Administrator, Bill Payne, Leslie Hurst, and Peggy Lahtela

Approval of September's minutes was made with a motion by Diane Tapio with support from Glenn Adams and unanimously approved.
Agenda was approved on a motion by Peggy Lahtela with support from Marcy Rankinen. Motion carried.
Permit Reviews (Land Division, Conditional Use, PUD)
Motion to approve the land division of Thomas Sandblom as presented by Glenn Adams with support from Peggy Lahtela. Motion carried unanimously. Located in that part of Gov't Lot 1, Section 16, T45N, R30W, Republic Township, Marquette County, Michigan.

Zoning Administrator-- Report attached with Sandblom land division
Parks and Recreation-- Sledding Hill--Vern Barber's worker that was scheduled to brush the hill prior to putting up the fences left for another position and the township is trying to find someone to replace him.
The girl's change room at the beach was vandalized, lock broken and benches burned.
EDC--None
Heritage Trail--Trustee Chuck Hurst is attending a DNR Trust Fund meeting in Bay City regarding the Heritage Trail and Republic Wetlands. Subcommittee hopes to meet in next week or two with UPEA engineer Jim Kostiniemi to develop plan for footbridges etc. In conjunction with the Heritage Trail, Township Supervisor Gary Johnson met with representatives from Moose Country Snowmobile Club regarding moving the snowmobile trail from the railroad tracks, which they will no longer be able to use, to a new location north of Mirror (School) Lake.
Master Plan/Zoning Ordinance Sub-Committee--next meeting will be November 7, 2007 at the Township Hall at 7:00p.m. with guest speakers Joan Duncan and Fred Benzie.
Community Meeting/Plan--Leslie will contact Gary Johnson about scheduling a meeting
Campground Sub-Committee--Nothing at this time
Website Updates--Fred Nannestad reports that the web site is about 97% complete at this time.
Old Business
Leslie Hurst will meet with Gary Johnson, Chuck Hurst, and UPEA planner Bill Sanders on October 24th to review recreation plan projects to prioritize and breakdown for seeking grants
New Business
Diane Tapio reports that the last day the transfer station will be open for the season is October 20th from 9a.m. to 2p.m.
Motion to adjourn by Diane Tapio with support from Glenn Adams. Motion carried. Next meeting will be on November 19, 2007 at 7:00 at the Township Hall.
