Special Meeting Minutes-Thursday, September 13, 2007

Absent: Vickie Radcliffe, Peggy Lahtela
The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m, by Chairperson Leslie Hurst.
Roll call was taken; there was no public comment.
After a thorough review and discussion, the land division request of Bruce E. Pieper
located in Nl/2 x NEl/4 x SEl/4, Section 22, T.45N.-R.30W. was granted on a
motion by Glenn Adams, supported by Jay Mattila and unanimously approved
(materials attached).
The meeting was then adjourned.

Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
Monday, September 17, 2007 – 7:00 p.m.
Members present: Leslie Hurst, Bill Payne-Zoning Administrator, Vickie Radcliffe, Marcy Rankinen, Diane Tapio, Glenn Adams
Absent: Jay Mattila, Peggy Lahtela
Visitors: Fred Nannestad, Jack Krueger
The meeting was called to order at 7:12 p.m. by Chairperson Leslie Hurst.
Roll call was taken and the minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting of August 20, 2007, were approved on a motion by Glenn Adams, supported by Marcy Rankinen and unanimously carried.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of September 13, 2007, were approved on a motion by Glenn Adams, supported by Diane Tapio; unanimously carried.
The agenda was approved on a motion by Marcy Rankinen, supported by Glenn Adams, carried.
There was no public comment.
Permit Reviews:
It was moved by Glenn Adams, supported by Diane Tapio, unanimously carried that the Luoma Land Division be approved – located in that part of Government Lot 1, Section 8, T45N-R30W, Republic Township, Marquette County, Michigan.
It was moved by Glenn Adams, supported by Vickie Radcliffe, unanimously carried that the Gervasi Land Division be approved – located in that part of Government Lot 3, Section 4, T47N-R30W in Republic Township, Marquette County, Michigan.
Reports:
Zoning Administrator – report attached with addition of mobile home request, Bruno Gervasi.
Parks & Recreation – Dean Korvala presented information to twp. on Frisbee golf course on golf driving range; fencing needs to be done on sledding hill.
EDC – no report.
Heritage Trail – Twp. Board in process of resubmittal of pavilion grant; Twp. purchased lot along School Lake to accommodate snowmobile trail and development of Heritage trail.
Master Plan/Zoning Ordinance subcommittee – Next meeting on October 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
Ordinance subcommittee – has not met; need to reconvene and finish reviews.
Community Meeting – Next meeting September 19th at 7:00 p.m.
Campground committee – will resume further work in early spring.
Website – Fred Nannestad updated commission on website activities.
Old Business – none.
New Business – Communications from Greater Ishpeming United Fund grants; survey from Michigan State University; Environmental workshop.
Public Comment – Jack Krueger spoke indicating his willingness to volunteer in the area, with youth and economic development projects.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Diane Tapio, supported by Glenn Adams, and carried. Adjournment at 8:50 p.m..
