1. Supervisor Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00pm in the Township Hall.
2. Salute to Flag
3. Motion by Hurst, seconded by Mattila, to approve the agenda as amended. CARRIED. [item 9-H / seasonal garbage complaint].
4. Motion by Mattila, seconded by Johnson, to approve the minutes of the 11-19-07 meeting as presented. CARRIED.
5. Motion by Mattila, seconded by Johnson, to pay the bills as presented. CARRIED.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT: none
7. REPORTS:
a) Trustee Adams- absent
b) Trustee Hurst- attended & reported on Heritage Trail/Recreation Authority meeting; LSCPF & Iron Ore Heritage Authority have created an agreement now.
c) Ambulance- Nancy Currie; EMS by-laws have been revised and the Board hereby recognizes said revised by-laws.
d) Heritage Trail- see 7-B
e) Assessing- written report
f) Website- written report from Mr. Nannestad.
8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
a) Cable America Lease- tabled until next regular meeting.
b) #4 Sewer Lift Station Repairs- contract with Coleman Eng. is still in effect and they will see the project through completion.
9. NEW BUSINESS:
a) Bell Hospital Intercept Agreement- received a proposed agreement from Mr. Manty; no action taken.
b) Ambulance Billing Agent-
Motion by Skogman, seconded by Mattila, to hire Myrtle Milner as Republic Township’s ambulance billing agent and to have Don Szenina set up a computer system for said billing purposes at the Emergency Services Building. CARRIED.
c) West-End Library- an informational letter regarding proposed library was received from Lois Ellis.
d) Recreation Plan Amendment- no action taken
e) Planning Commission Appointments- 2 applications received.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Mattila, to appoint J. Marie Serafin and Paul Polanski to 3 year terms on the Republic Township Planning Commission. CARRIED.
f) Removal of “Old’ Ordinances- tabled until January meeting.
g) Set Budget Workshop Date- January 16, 2008 at 5pm at the Township Hall.
h) Seasonal Garbage- several issues discussed.

Election Commission Meeting
Republic Township

PRESENT: Johnson, Mattila, Skogman
1. Clerk Skogman called the meeting to order at 9:04am in the Township Office.
2. PURPOSE OF MEETING: appoint election workers for the 01-15-08 Presidential Primary election and to set compensation for said workers.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Mattila, to appoint the following workers for the January 15th presidential primary. CARRIED.
Peg Lahtela Carol Nicholas Nancy Wenberg
Motion by Mattila, seconded by Johnson, to pay the precinct chairperson at $11 per hour and the election workers at $10 per hour. CARRIED.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Mattila, to buy the election workers’ evening meal. CARRIED.
3. ADJOURNMENT: the meeting was declared adjourned at 9:07am.
