Republic Township Board

PRESENT: Adams, Hurst, Johnson, Mattila, Skogman
VISITORS: Andy Bek, several area residents
1. Supervisor Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00pm in the Township Office.
2. Salute to Flag
3. Agenda was presented for approval:
Motion by Mattila, seconded by Adams, to approve the agenda as presented.
CARRIED.
4. Minutes of the following meetings were presented for approval:
10-26-06 [regular] 10-30-06 [Elec. Comm.] 11-07-06 [special]
Motion by Mattila, seconded by Adams, to approve the minutes of the above listed
meetings as presented. CARRIED.
5. PAYMENT OF BILLS:
Motion by Adams, seconded by Hurst, to pay the bills in the amount of
$129,359.23. CARRIED.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT: length – 2 minutes
7. REPORTS: tabled until December Board meeting
8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: none
9. NEW BUSINESS:
a) Board Vacancies- Board to post for upcoming vacancies on the Planning
Commission, Board of Review, and Zoning Board of Appeals; applications to
be back for the December 18th meeting.
b) Pasty.Net- Andrew Bek; gave a presentation to the Board and the public
regarding Pasty.Net; grant received by the County to provide high speed
internet service to select Townships, of which Republic is one.
c) Planning Commission Assistance- need to update the 5 year Plan;
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Adams, to negotiate with CUPPAD to help
the Planning Commission update the 5 Year Plan and to bring price(s) back to
the Board. CARRIED.
d) Schaedig Garbage Complaint-
Motion by Adams, seconded by Hurst, to remove Mr. Schaedig’s second
garbage billing and to credit adjust his account. CARRIED.
e) “Town Square” Architect- tabled until the December 18th meeting.
f) Mine Property Presentation- date set for December 13th at 7pm; presentation
will be informational only- no action to be taken.
g) Streetlights- 3 light sites in question:
* Basketball Court [Beach] – remove
* K. Nault [Co.Rd. 601] – remove
* Boshears [Cap’s Creek Road] – located in Humboldt Twp-therefore they
must request the light from Humboldt Twp.
h) Property Purchase- $1,200 – old gas station property behind the old Pit Stop &
CCI properties around Munson Park - $24,500.
Motion by Hurst, seconded by Adams, to accept CCI’s offer to purchase said
properties at a cost of $24,500 and to purchase the lot from Robin Isaacson
located directly behind the old Pit Stop at a price of $1,200. CARRIED.
i) Zoning Administrator- Mr. Payne will be on vacation December 1st through
December 14th; Leslie Hurst will fill in as needed.
j) Recreation Authority/Articles of Incorporation – [copy available at Township
office]
Motion by Adams, seconded by Hurst, to approve the Articles of Incorporation
Creating a Marquette County Recreation Authority. CARRIED.

1. Supervisor Johnson called the meeting to order at 1:04pm in the Township Office.
2. PURPOSE OF MEETING: CDBG Grant/Road Repairs – Public Hearing.
Public Comment
The grant is a good idea and much needed
“Let’s go for it”
The public hearing portion of the meeting was adjourned.
Architectural Services/Town Square
Motion by Hurst, seconded by Adams, to have an architect-to be chosen at the
Dec. 18th mtg- to help us work on the grant for the Town Square. CARRIED.
Ambulance Sale
Motion by Adams, to sell the old ambulance for $4,350. Motion failed for lack of
a second.
