Snowmobiling
Snowmobiling is one of the most popular sports in the U.P. In Republic, fuel and food are available at Maki's Mini Mart and Summer Place Resturant in North Republic, both are on a groomed snowmobile trail.

Republic has the most variety in snowmoblie activities in the U.P.
Republic as a snowmobile trailhead, is an important part of the X-C trail system. The Moose Country Snowmobile Club in Republic is the driving force keeping the trails open for everyone.
If you are planning to pass through or a newcomer to snowmobiling, one of your concerns should be FUEL for your machine and your friends machines. Republic is far enough out of the way to have only 3 sources of fuel within a 23 mile stretch of highway.
The first (1st)is Koski Corners in Humbolt Township, North of Republic, at the intersection of US-41 and M-95, open 24/7, for fuel, beverage, and groceries.
The second (2) is Maki's Mini mart in North Republic, at the corner of Kloman and Park City, open M-Th 8-9, Fri & Sat 8-10, Sun 9-9, for fuel WHEN AVAILABLE, beverage, and groceries. Call ahead for fuel availability 906-376-8220.
The third (3) is Silver Lake Resort, 3 miles South of Republic's Southern Boundary where the Michigamme River crosses M-95, in Dickinson County (Sagola Township) open 6AM to 9PM (Central Time Zone) daily, for fuel, beverages, groceries, and a restaurant. Call 906-542-7195 or click on Silver Lake Resort.
Perhaps the best accommodations for snowmobilers are located at CedarHurst Lodge, Lost Lake Lodge, and Pine Crest Resort. In addition, all proprietors can offer on site and township wide directions to other snowmobiling lands and the cross country trails.
