So, Where are we and who are we ?
Republic, Michigan and Republic Township are one in the same as defined by the Michigan Constitution. Republic is about 6 miles wide and 18 miles long with two (2) small town centers and a little over 1100 residents.
Republic is located in the Southwestern corner of Marquette County in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, just northeast of Wisconsin, 150 miles straight north of Green Bay, Wisconsin, or 50 miles north of Iron Mountain, Michigan on M-95. We are quietly world famous for having the Northwoods' best four seasons activities in the UP. Watching wildlife, observing Fall colors, 
snowmobiling, fishing for trout, walleye, bass, hunting for deer or bear, ORVing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, hiking, cycling, white water kayaking as well as quiet kayaking, canoeing, camping at state and township campgrounds, are just a sampling of the great outdoor activities available.

Long distance snowmobile trails pass through Republic as well as the non-motorized Iron Ore Heritage Trail portions of which are open now. Nearby is the UP 200 dog sled race. Needed equipment, guides and equipment rental are nearby. Accommodations are found at CedarHurst Lodge, Lost Lake Lodge, Pine Crest Resort, and Private Island open year around. Another best kept secret in Republic is available waterfront property. Want to build a log cabin? We have a builder, Woodworks Unlimited. Republic is experiencing a rebirth after the iron mine closed over 20 years ago. Recently, new mineral deposits have been found nearby by the mining companies. A processing mill is planned for Humbolt Township just North of Republic.
